Autumn is historically the busiest time of the year for sales, as the summer holidays are over, and the children have returned to school. This means that autumn becomes the most fruitful time for sellers.

Here are some great ways to get your home ready for an autumn sale.

Firstly, ensure your home looks fresh and clean.

Declutter, if you have boxes in the hallway that you haven’t gotten around to moving yet. Move them. Make sure that every surface looks fresh and clean, devoid of dust and dirt.

Every worksurface needs to be clean and bright. Freshen up your decorations, throw out the old cushions and get some smart new ones, make sure the mirror isn’t streaky and the hob is looking shiny!

It is very easy to overlook some of the simpler aspects of creating an inviting home, yet when done properly it can help with the sale of your property

No doubt the kids have been in the garden all summer playing with toys, have the toys tidied away, and looking smart. Whilst you're in the garden, be sure to cut the grass and clear away any debris. It’s autumn, so you’ll probably need to rake up those leaves too.

Even if your property has limited outdoor space, having a few plant pots with a few hardy plants really makes a difference when a potential buyer comes to view your home. People want to see a fresh green space

Make sure that there aren’t any weeds popping up in the pathway. Kerb appeal can massively affect someone's first impression. So have a look at the front of your property. Recoating the front door with a lick of paint can really help. Jetwashing the masonry can change the look of your house drastically, although time-consuming, it will literally change the colour of the facade of your property.

Keep the windows open and get the place ventilated before a potential buyer comes to view the property. Some people use the tactics of baking bread before a viewer arrives to make sure the house smells homely. If you don’t want to go to that extreme, just make sure your property is smelling good.

With a few simple steps, you can ensure that you give off the right impression
