It’s not always about the inside of your property when it comes to increasing the value of your home. Make sure you don’t overlook the property’s exterior features.

Adding to your kerb appeal by improving the outside of your property is likely to increase its value.

Take a look at our five tips below…

Repaint the exterior

A great way to add value without a great deal of cost is to repaint the exterior. Be sure to include the main house colour and the fixtures such as panels, windowpanes and of course the front door.

Have a look at the exterior. When did you last repaint it? Does it look tired and run down? This is what you need to ask yourself to make sure it’s worth investing in. If the finish is looking shabby, you should invest money in updating it.

Give the driveway some TLC

As one of the first things a potential buyer will see, making sure your driveway and the surroundings are looking their best is something you should consider. You might not need to do a big makeover –think about jet washing the area and replace any cracked concrete.

A driveway in good condition is not only more likely to add value to your property, but it should also entice potential buyers – giving you a quicker sale if you are looking to put your property on the market.

Roof maintenance!

Have you had a good look at the condition of your roof lately? If not, think about calling an expert to take a look – If you have missing tiles or damage to the roof making it not suitable for all weather conditions, it might have an effect on the value of your home.

If this is the case, getting the repairs done should be a priority! As checks from buyers may pick up on this – decreasing your chance of getting a sale for the price you want.  Make sure you use a trustworthy roofer (maybe one recommend by a friend) to check the roof. You don’t want to be sold unnecessary services and end up paying over the odds.

Brighten your garden

A sad looking garden will not help you to sell your home! So, it’s worth investing some time and money to make it look appealing to buyers.

You don’t need a big budget to make your garden improvements! Keep things simple and check the key elements are well maintained, such as the flower beds, lawn and of course the fencing. Doing these basic updates will leave you with an attractive garden without breaking the bank. If you are selling, simplicity is key. Keeping things simple will help potential buyers envision the garden how they would like it – should they wish to live there.

Garage conversion

Some of us are known to abandon our garages – they become a dumping ground for junk we have horded throughout the years. However, these can hold a lot of value, which you will certainly want when selling!

Think about converting this space into something more useable for prospective buyers. Maybe a space for children to play or a home office (whatever changes you make should fit with the market you’re selling to). Again, not only would you have added space and value to your home – it will also make it more desirable to potential buyers.

We hope out tips help you to sell your home quickly and for a great price. If you are looking to sell or need general property advice, please do get in touch with us here.
